The 2026 VO2 Max Challenge

Are you actually fit - or do you just think you are?

A lot of people believe they're in decent shape until they look properly under the hood.

VO2 max is one of the strongest predictors of your current and future health - and heart disease is still a leading cause of death across the Western world.

Your VO2 max will tell you what's actually going on, not what you assume.

We're opening 20 spots for people in Brighton and Hove to take part in the VO2 Max Challenge. A program including: a clinical-grade V02 Max test, a 12-week training protocol built around your result, and a retest to see exactly how far you've come.

The person with the highest percentage increase in their VO₂ max will have the full cost of the program refunded - giving them the entire clinical-grade service completely free.

What's included in the package

1. Clinical-grade VO2 max assessment A proper lab-standard test, not a guess from your watch. You'll find out exactly what your VO2 max is, and what it actually means for your health and fitness.

2. Full lifetime access to The Longevity Engine Our online VO2 max course, covering everything you need to understand your result, including how to interpret it and what it tells you about your cardiovascular health.

3. A training plan built for your level Based on your test result, you'll be placed into one of six performance bands. Every band has its own dedicated 12-week training protocol, so whatever your starting point, there's a plan that's right for you. Not everyone follows the same programme; yours is built around where you're actually starting from.

4. Your retest, 12 weeks later Come back in and find out exactly how much your VO2 max has improved with another clinical grade V02 Max assessment.

5. A support community for the full 12 weeks Everyone taking part joins a WhatsApp group, supervised by me throughout the challenge. Ask questions, raise concerns, get support - and push each other to get the best possible results.

VO2 Max Challenge — Terms & Conditions

1. Eligibility
The Challenge is open to people based in Brighton and Hove, aged 18 or over, who complete the health screening questionnaire and are assessed as suitable to undertake a maximal-effort VO2 max assessment. Life Is Movement reserves the right to decline entry, or to postpone a participant's test in favour of an initial consultation, if any concerns about suitability arise — whether at sign-up or on the day of testing.

2. What's included
Entry to the Challenge requires sign-up to the full VO2 max package, comprising: a clinical-grade VO2 max assessment, full access to the Longevity Engine online course, a personalised 12-week training protocol (assigned according to one of six performance bands based on initial test result), a retest at 12 weeks, and membership of a supervised WhatsApp support group for the duration of the Challenge.

3. The prize
The participant who achieves the highest percentage improvement in VO2 max between their initial test and their 12-week retest will have the full cost of their package refunded.

4. Ties
In the event that two or more participants achieve the same highest percentage improvement, the prize will be split evenly between them. For example: a two-way tie results in each tied participant receiving 50% of their package cost refunded; a three-way tie results in each receiving one-third refunded, and so on.

5. Valid tests
To be eligible for the prize, both the initial test and the retest must be completed at Life Is Movement under standard testing conditions, and must meet our criteria for a valid maximal effort. Our team will confirm this with you at the time of testing.

6. Your comfort and safety come first
Before every test and retest, our team will check that you feel comfortable and ready to undertake a maximal-effort assessment on the day. If you have any concerns, you must raise them with us before starting — we will never pressure you to continue with a test you don't feel ready for. Your wellbeing takes priority over your Challenge result.

7. Training commitment
Participants are expected to complete a minimum of 2 (ideally 3) cardiovascular training sessions per week for the full 12-week period, in line with the protocol prescribed for their performance band. While we don't formally audit compliance, your training consistency will directly affect your result — and your standing in the Challenge.

8. Retest window
Retests should take place as close to 12 weeks after the initial test as possible. Minor scheduling flexibility (within a reasonable window either side) will be accommodated where needed, at our discretion.

9. Withdrawal
Participants may withdraw from the Challenge at any time. Package fees are non-refundable on withdrawal, except where the prize is awarded under Clause 3 or 4.

10. Changes to these terms
Life Is Movement reserves the right to amend these terms if necessary to ensure the fair and safe running of the Challenge. Participants will be notified of any material changes.

11. Health disclosure
Participants must disclose any relevant health conditions, injuries, or concerns prior to each test, in line with our standard health screening process. Life Is Movement accepts no liability for outcomes arising from undisclosed health conditions.

12. Discretion and final decisions
Life Is Movement retains full discretion over the interpretation and application of these Terms & Conditions. In the event of any dispute, contest, or ambiguity relating to the Challenge — including but not limited to eligibility, scoring, test validity, or the awarding of the prize — the decision of Life Is Movement will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

13. Right to amend or cancel
Life Is Movement reserves the right to amend, suspend, or cancel the Challenge at any time, including but not limited to circumstances affecting the fair or safe running of the Challenge. Where the Challenge is cancelled by Life Is Movement, participants will be offered a fair resolution at our discretion (which may include a full or partial refund, or continued access to the package outside the Challenge format).

14. Limitation of liability
Participation in the Challenge, including all testing and training activity, is undertaken at the participant's own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Life Is Movement Clinic accepts no liability for any loss, injury, or damage arising from participation, other than where caused by our own negligence.
